The OEM instrument cluster hood will look lackluster or faded vinyl panel under prolonged UV exposure. Hence, there are many Cruze owners who choose to apply wax on this surface to make it look “lively” or “wet look”. However, this will result in attracting dust on the surface and requires constant re-application of wax after being absorbed by the sunlight.
On the other hand, this trim is design for Cruze 2009 – 2014 odometer or the instrument cluster gauge hood. It provides a perfect and long-lasting aesthetic make-over and will cover up the dull plastic look.
The installation of this trim can never be any simpler. You need to clean the surface to strip any traces of grease or wax by using mild soapy water. Skipping this step might result in the trim will not stick well. Once the surface has been cleaned, it’s recommended to apply a layer of 3M Primer on the hood lining where the 3M tapes touch. Next, peel off the 3M adhesive tape backing. Align the trim and press the trim firmly into its position.
